Maybe you’re going to your prom or graduating from university. Perhaps you’re a bridesmaid at your sister’s wedding or just want to look beautiful on a first date. Our lives are full of special occasions that we want to look our best for. Not only does this fill us with confidence, but it can help us enjoy the event even more. From dying your hair to buying a new dress, there are plenty of things you can do to prepare. So much so that it can be difficult to know where to start. So if you want to feel glam and gorgeous for any occasion, here’s what you need to do.
Plan ahead
While some special occasions will crop up unexpectedly, the majority of them will give you more time to get prepared. The more time you have to work with, the less stressful the process will be. Mark the date of the occasion on a calendar and start planning your beauty or fitness regime. You can use this time to try miracle berry tablets or to plan a shopping trip for the perfect outfit. You can also start a new skincare regime and practise applying your makeup and hair extensions. Try not to leave everything to the last minute and allow yourself time to enjoy each stage.
Try on your outfit
Trying on your planned outfit is something you need to do in the days or week leading up to your event. This will allow you to check the fit and buy anything you might be missing. For instance, if you’re wearing a strapless dress, you may have forgotten to buy a strapless bra or fashion tape. Look for any stains or faults on your dress, even if you’ve never worn it before. If it needs to be washed, followed the instructions carefully or visit local dry cleaners to assist you. Also, make sure you iron with care and hang your outfit up on a suitable hanger. The best bit about trying on your outfit is that you can experiment with styling ideas and accessories. So spend an hour or so, trying on different shoes, jewellery and bags to see which works best.
Book a hairdressing trial
You naturally want your hair to look fabulous during your special occasion. So book a trial with a local hairdresser to test out some hairstyle ideas. Take a photo of your dress to help your hairdresser come up with suitable options. They may also be able to suggest ways to improve the condition of your hair through hair masks or with a new cut. Book in advance to ensure your hair will look amazing on the day. If you don’t have the money to have your hair professionally styled, try Youtube tutorials instead. You can also use these for your makeup, styling and nail art inspiration.
No matter what the occasion is, remember that confidence and self-love are key ingredients to looking your absolute best. Give yourself a positive self-talk in the mirror before you leave to acknowledge your beauty and to give your confidence a boost.
