The Inbetweeners 2 Film Review

The Inbetweeners has always been one of my favourite TV shows ever – I feel like it depicts typical British teenage boys in a nutshell and I can never truly pick a favourite character (although I do really like Will aka Simon Bird) as they’re just all so good. I’ve been counting down the days until the release of the second movie ever since it was announced MONTHS ago, and I was super excited to finally go and see it on Tuesday night at my local ODEON cinema!
The Inbetweeners 2 Film Review

Firstly, I know this is meant to be a review, but I really don’t want to give too much away as I’d like people to form their own opinions on the film after seeing it for themselves. But what I will say, is that I absolutely loved it. So much. Even to the extent that I’d actually say it was far better than the first movie, which you often find to be rare with sequels. Although, I might have just watched the first one so many times that I'm now just completely bored of it - oops.

There wasn’t a single dull part throughout the whole film and it was the perfect length so that it didn't drag on all evening. There were multiple times where the entire cinema was in stitches and I was literally struggling to breathe from laughing so much. (Even when I visualise one particular scene right now, I have to stop myself from giggling like a lunatic!)

However, although I'm a huge fan of the film, I have read a few tweets from several users saying how disappointed they are with it and that it was a bit of a let-down for them. I don’t personally agree, but I can definitely see how it was slightly different to the first movie so therefore may have lost appeal to some viewers. The characters have matured in a sense that there wasn’t really as much partying/getting drunk as we're used to, and there was an element of seriousness to some parts of the plot, which hasn't really been seen much before.

Despite this, I still think it works: the characters have grown in a way that's resulted in a touch of drama and emotion being added to what was mostly comedy - making it far more interesting, yet still ensuring that each character keeps their individual quirks and all the classic banter.

Overall, I would definitely recommend going to see The Inbetweeners 2 - especially if you're a fan of the TV series and the first movie! I even think that there's room for another sequel... if only. You can watch the official trailer here and be sure to check your local cinema for screenings of the film.

Have you seen The Inbetweeners 2? Do you think it beats the original?

  1. I haven't seen it yet and have heard so many bad reviews on it :/ a few good ones are cropping up now though! At the time the first one came out I was like 'it's a classic' but honestly it's not something I'd choose to watch again. I think I've grown out of them to be honest! X
